Three GVSU Women’s Basketball Players Represent Northern Michigan in Elite Eight

ALLENDALE – Three Grand Valley State women’s basketball players represent northern Michigan as the No. 2 seed Lakers face No. 7 seed Missouri Western in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight on Monday.

Rylie Bisballe from Lake City is averaging 11.4 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Lakers this year.

Her cousin, Houghton Lake’s Macy Bisballe, is a freshman on the team who is red-shirting this year. The same is true for Cadillac’s Molly Anderson.

The three of them say they love representing northern Michigan at GVSU.

“Up north it’s harder to get recruited and I think it shows we can be an example for kids up there that they can do this too,” said Anderson.

“It’s something that you would always dream about. Like being able to play for a national championship? It almost doesn’t even seem real,” said Macy Bisballe.

“I think we have a great group of girls and we’re just really close with each other and being together is what we want and what we want to keep doing,” said Rylie Bisballe.

The Lakers are scheduled to face Missouri Western on Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Birmingham, Alabama.
