St. Ignace Hands Rudyard Its First Loss in Double Overtime

ST. IGNACE — St. Ignace defeated Rudyard, 72-71, in a double overtime thriller on Friday, handing the Bulldogs their first loss of the season.

Rudyard jumped out to a 19-9 lead after the first quarter, but the Saints put together a huge second quarter to lead 27-26 entering halftime. The Bulldogs retook the lead, 36-35, after the third. The two were tied at 58 after the fourth and 64 following the first overtime.

Jonathan Ingalls led all scorers with 25 points, while Ethan McLean added 21 points for the Saints. Cam Peterson led the Bulldogs with 23 points.

The Saints improve to 12-4 overall, while Rudyard falls to 15-1.

St. Ignace’s next game is at home against Mackinaw City and Rudyard will play at Cheboygan. Both games are scheduled for Tuesday.
