CMU Announces 2022 Football Schedule

Road games against Oklahoma State and Penn State highlight Central Michigan’s 2022 football schedule which was released Friday.

The Chippewas open their season on the road at Oklahoma State on Thursday, Sept. 1. Back in 2016, the Chippewas knocked off the No. 22-ranked Cowboys, 30-27, in thrilling fashion in Stillwater.

The Chippewas will face their second Power 5 opponent on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Penn State.

CMU’s home opener will see the Chippewas play host to South Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The Chippewas open Mid-American Conference play on the road at Toledo on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The Chippewas will host six games this fall including a pair of Wednesday night MAC contests. CMU will also close out its regular season with back-to-back rivalry games against Western Michigan (Nov. 16) and Eastern Michigan (Nov. 25).

CMU will face seven opponents that played in bowl games during the 2021 season, including five MAC opponents in Toledo (Bahamas Bowl), Western Michigan (Quick Lane Bowl), Eastern Michigan (Lending Tree Bowl), Ball State (Camellia Bowl) and NIU (Cure Bowl).

Kickoff times and homecoming will be announced at a later date.

CMU went 9-4 overall and 6-2 in MAC play in 2021, clinching a share of a MAC West title. The Chippewas ended their season winners of five straight, including a historic 24-21 victory over Washington State in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.
