CHEBOYGAN – PJ Maybank III took home the trophy at the 31st Sea Pines Junior Heritage tournament in Hilton Head, South Carolina over the weekend for his first win of the 2022 season.
After a tough loss in a three-way playoff in last year’s tournament, Maybank returned to Atlantic Dunes with some unfinished business and his sights set on hoisting the trophy that escaped him in 2021.
Maybank was the only golfer to finish with an under-par round, shooting an impressive -3 for a 68 on the final day of the tournament which featured some rough conditions.
He ended the weekend -2 for a final score of 141 in the boys division.
Maybank shot a 73 in Saturday’s opening round and trailed first-round leader Jackson Byrd. The son of PGA Tour golfer Jonathan Byrd, finished second with a 146.
