BENZONIA — The Benzie Central boys basketball team remained undefeated with a 72-55 victory over Buckley on Monday in a matchup featuring a pair of top-10 teams in their divisions.
The Bears jumped out to a 12-6 lead after one quarter and led 29-26 at halftime, but the Huskies came out of the locker room ready to go in the second half, outscoring their opponent, 46-26. A 15-0 run helped them build a strong lead in the third quarter.
Quinn Zickert led the Huskies with 35 points, all coming in the final three quarters of the game.
Benzie Central takes over sole possession of first place in the Northwest Conference, improving to 4-0 in conference play and 7-0 overall. They will next host Suttons Bay on Friday.
Buckley falls to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play with the loss. They’ll look to bounce back on Tuesday at Bear Lake.
