Red Wings Fall to Blues in Second Game of Propect Tournament

TRAVERSE CITY – The Detroit Red Wings fell to the St. Louis Blues 5-2 on Saturday night at Centre Ice Arena.

Lucas Raymond scored both goals for the Red Wings. The fourth overall pick in 2020 has now scored three goals in the Red Wings first two games at the prospect tournament.

Saturday night was the first chance for Red Wings’ fans to see 2021 first-round pick Sebastian Cossa in net for Detroit. He gave up three goals in the first period but settled in nicely and made several big saves in the second period before giving up two more in the third.

“I do think he settled in nicely and that shows a little bit of mental fortitude on his part, a little bit of resilience in that regard,” said Ben Simon, the head coach of the Red Wings prospect team and of the Grand Rapids Griffins. “I think that it was good for him to have an experience of playing in this tournament when things are a little chaotic at times with the lack of structure because teams haven’t been together so long.”

The Red Wings’ final game of the prospect tournament will be Sunday night at 6 p.m. against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
