Glen Lake Names Jeremy Howe Athletic Director

Glen Lake announced Wednesday the hiring of Jeremy Howe as the school’s athletic director and assistant principal.

Howe will also serve as administrator of visual, performing and applied arts.

“As an educator, I believe that we can accomplish our goals as a school community by focusing our energy on building relationships with our students, staff and community. As a new administrator, I can say that my number one priority is to influence our students in a positive way by supporting them and inspiring them through positive interactions,” Howe said. “I look forward to getting to know the staff, students and families of Glen Lake and being an active member of the community.”

Howe most recently served as a teacher, coach and administrative intern with Traverse City Area Public Schools. He earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a master’s in educational leadership through Central Michigan University.

Howe takes over for longtime AD and administrator Mark Mattson who will continue to serve in his role as interim superintendent.

In a statement, Mattson said:

“After holding the title at Glen Lake from 2009-2014 and then again from 2018-present, and after more than 18 years total as an athletic director (six at Marquette Senior High School and four at Traverse City Central), it’s time for me to pass the torch. I believe Jeremy will be a fantastic fit at GL, and I am excited to see the onward and upward direction that he will guide Glen Lake.”

Howe will assume his duties on Monday, Sept. 27.
