CMU Coach Jim McElwain Diagnosed with Appendicitis Ahead of Season Opener

Three days ahead of Central Michigan’s football opener at Missouri, head coach Jim McElwain has been diagnosed with appendicitis.

McElwain is scheduled to have surgery Wednesday. Assistant head coach Tim Skipper will oversee the program until Coach McElwain’s return.

CMU kicks off its 2021 season at Missouri at 4 p.m. Saturday.
