Traverse City West Ready to Open Season at Big House

TRAVERSE CITY – With five consecutive winning seasons to its credit, Traverse City West opened camp this week.

After a season-opening loss to rival Traverse City Central last year, the Titans strung together six straight wins before falling to Grandville in a Division 1 district semifinal to finish 6-2.

West will open its season against Midland for the seventh time since 2013 but with a twist this year. The two teams will meet in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan on Thursday, Aug. 26 as part of the Battle at the Big House series of games.

“First found out about it last year and obviously with COVID it got shut down,” West head coach Greg Vaughan said. “Then it wasn’t until about a week ago that it was official and the University of Michigan gave us the okay.”
