Morley Stanwood Sets Sights on Reclaiming CSAA Silver Title

MORLEY – The Morley Stanwood football team has opened preseason camp, looking to once against compete for a CSAA Silver championship.

After winning the CSAA Silver title in 2019, Morley Stanwood finished runner-up to Kent City last year, falling 14-0 to the Red Devils for its only league loss.

The Mohawks recorded their seventh straight winning season last year, going 4-3. While Morley Stanwood averaged 39.5 points per game across its four wins, it was shut out in all three defeats.

As Morley Stanwood looks for more consistency on offense this fall, coach Art Campione says he’s extremely confident in his group of seniors.

“The biggest thing for us is consistency,” Campione said. “When we have success, how are we going to handle it? When we have struggles, how are the seniors going to handle it? If our senior class pushes us and they don’t back down we’re going to have a very good team.”

“We got down early and just kind of gave up so we need to stay strong this year and do our thing,” added senior Aaron Moore. “Do our jobs and it should work out.”

Morley Stanwood opens its season on the road at Central Montcalm on Thursday, Aug. 26.
