Traverse City West has announced the hiring of Doug Baumann as its boys basketball.
A 1997 Traverse City Central graduate, Baumann most recently coached West’s girls basketball team from 2017 through 2019.
“It is great to have Doug on staff,” said West athletic director Jason Carmien in a statement. “His playing experience, intensity, and basketball IQ will be a great asset to our boys’ program.”
“I’m looking forward to meeting coaches, players and parents, and getting started toward a successful 2021-2022 season,” added Baumann.
After graduating from Central, Baumann played collegiately at Lake Superior State (1997-2002) and previously served as an assistant coach with the girls varsity and JV boys teams in the early 2000s.
Baumann takes over a West program that went 6-6 during the abbreviated 2020-21 season.
