Traverse City Central named Chris Hale its new varsity boys soccer coach on Tuesday.

Hale previously coached at Bellaire (2012-16), leading the Eagles to four conference championships and a MHSAA state semifinal appearance in 2013.

“As a player and coach, Chris brings an extensive background to the Trojans,” said Traverse City Central athletic director Zac Stevenson. “I look forward to his leadership as the head coach of our Trojan soccer program.”

During his playing days, Hale played at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, Mo. and at St. Louis University. He also played with the U.S. Olympic Development program in Germany, Italy and Austria.

“At this stage of my life, there’s nothing more fulfilling than getting back on the pitch. Having an opportunity to represent a program like Traverse City Central only makes it sweeter,” Hale said.

Hale serves as vice president of sales and marketing at Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire.

Hale takes over a Central program that went 12-4-3 in 2020.
