The 39th Michigan High School Football Coaches Association All-Star Game will kick off on Saturday at Lawrence Tech, with five local players selected to the West roster.
Traverse City Central’s Austin Bills, Traverse City West’s Michael Elliott, Ludington’s Jake Plamondon, Kingsley’s Will Whims and Glen Lake’s Finn Hogan were all chosen to compete for the West team. Hogan cannot play in the game, as he is currently at Central Michigan.
For the players ready to compete, they’re excited for the opportunity.
“It’s just kind of like an introduction to playing with great players like in college I’m going to be playing against a lot better competition compared to high school. I feel like it’s just an introduction to college,” Bills said.
“I just think it’s a super great opportunity to play one more high school game because I know you get that feeling when you lose in the playoffs you’re like ‘I’ll never play again.’ I just think it’s good to get the rust of my shoulders and go out there and play and show what TC West is made about,” Elliott said.
The game will kick off at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
