HARBOR SPRINGS — Boyne Highlands’ PGA Teaching Professional Jeff Roth will compete in his 52nd PGA Tour event this week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit.
Roth won the Michigan PGA Championship in 2019, securing an exemption into the 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic, but the pandemic forced them to cancel exemptions and push Roth’s chance to play back to this year.
He’s looking forward to competing against some of the best golfers in the world this week.
“I enjoy the challenge of just trying to keep my game relevant and kind of elite, if you will,” Roth said. “I don’t have the physical characteristics that a lot of these younger guys do. They’re much more of an athlete than I was at that age. But it’s just I enjoy the competition. I enjoy seeing where I stand.”
The tournament will be from Thursday to Sunday at the Detroit Golf Club.
