MT. PLEASANT — The Central Michigan baseball team will make its second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and the Chippewas will take on Notre Dame to open up the tournament as part of the South Bend regional.
CMU finished its season with a 40-16 overall record and 31-9 in the Mid-American Conference. Their 31 wins in the MAC helped them secure the conference regular season title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
The Chippewas are familiar with Notre Dame, as the two played in April. The Fighting Irish won that game, 8-4. They were supposed to play on May 4 in Mt. Pleasant, but the game was canceled.
Notre Dame went 30-11 this season, with a 25-10 conference record.
Their game will be on Friday at 1 p.m., while Michigan will face UConn at 7 p.m. in the same regional.
