CMU Women to Face Iowa in NCAA Tournament

The Central Michigan women’s basketball team will face Iowa in the 2021 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament.

CMU is the #12 seed in the River Walk Region and will take on the #5 seed Hawkeyes (18-9).

The Chippewas (18-8) won their fifth Mid-American Conference tournament championship on Saturday with a 77-72 victory over top seed Bowling Green.

CMU is making its sixth NCAA Tournament appearance and third since 2018. The Chippewas advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2018 with upset wins over LSU and Ohio State. In 2019, CMU fell to Michigan State in the first round.

Michigan (14-5) is the #6 seed in the River Walk Region and will face #6 seed Florida Gulf Coast.

Michigan State (15-8) is the #10 seed in the Mercado Region and will take on #7 seed Iowa State.

First round games are set for Sunday and Monday, March 21-22. All four regions of the bracket will take place in San Antonio, with the Final Four hosted by the Alamodome.
