Traverse City’s Woughter Ready For Next Chapter at LSSU

Traverse City Central alum Margot Wougther is set to continue her collegiate basketball career at Lake Superior State this winter.

A multi-time all-state and all-conference player at Central and former Big North Conference Player of the Year, Woughter began her collegiate career at NAIA Indiana Wesleyan in 2018 and averaged 12.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game en route to being named Newcomer of the Year in the Crossroads League.

After starting all 29 games as a freshman, Woughter transferred in hopes of finding a better fit. The sophomore guard found that better fit at LSSU.

“After my first year, it was clear that that was not where I wanted to continue for my four years,” Woughter said. “Luckily, Coach (Brandon) Lokken gave me the opportunity to continue to play, which I’m super thankful for. Honestly, I’m just so excited to be a part of this unit that we have this group of girls that are excited we’re ranked at the bottom of the league because it’s going to be an exciting opportunity to come from everybody looking at us in the rearview mirror.”

Wougther and the Lakers tip off their season at conference foe Wayne State on Monday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m.
