GRAYLING – The Vikings are continuing to build on one of their best seasons in program history.
Grayling, who has a 6-3 record so far this year, has made it to the regional final in their 15th playoff appearance ever. This is their first time making it to regionals since 2005, which also marks the farthest the Vikings have gone in the playoffs.
“My expectation is that we come out and play hard like we’ve done all year,” Grayling coach Eric Tunney said. “I don’t have any concerns with that, just because I know what these kids are made of and once the whistle blows I think the kids will flip that switch back on and get into game mode.”
They completed a total turnaround from only winning two games in the season prior.
“I’m just excited to be hitting full speed again,” Grayling senior Drew Kanary said. “I mean it’s been a month and a half since we’ve really gone at it. It’s gonna be a dog fight and it’s just whoever can scrap the hardest really.”
The Vikings take on Negaunee, who is also 6-3 on the season. Grayling hosts the Miners at 2 pm on Saturday.
