TRAVERSE CITY – Traverse City Central senior Leah Doezema recently committed to the University of Michigan and its track and field program.
Central’s program record holder in the shot put, Doezema finished second at the indoor state finals in 2019 in the shot put.
Doezema says she looks forward to attending her dream school for both the academic and athletic opportunities that Michigan offers her.
“I’ve always wanted to go to Michigan,” Doezema said. “Since I was probably been in seventh grade it’s been a goal that I’ve always wanted and something that I’ve worked towards academically. To be able to not only apply academics and athletics, but together, I can’t even put it into words. I’m so excited because I get to experience something that many people do not get to experience. I’m excited to just push myself and be a better person from it.”
Doezema hopes to complete her high school career this spring.
