MHSAA Representative Council To Meet Friday

LANSING – After their meeting on Thursday was postponed, the MHSAA Representative Council says they will meet Friday with hopes of a setting a plan going forward.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer will also be providing a COVID-19 update on Friday with the extension of the emergency orders expiring on December 20.

The MHSAA says they have been asking for daily updates from MDHHS regarding school sports.

In a letter to athletic directors across the state, MHSAA Executive Director Mark Uyl said they believe they will have information so “decisions can be finalized and shared very soon”.

Uyl also expressed how the Council knows there is a lot of frustration in the unknown, but they have to wait on the health department and government offices.

Uyl ended the letter saying he would reach out to ADs immediately following the meeting on Friday morning.

High school sports have been suspended since November 15, with football, volleyball, and swimming and diving left to finish their seasons. It also pushed back the start of winter sports.
