Mesick Hopes to Continue Historic Volleyball Season

MESICK – The decision on if the high school fall sports season in Michigan will resume has yet to be decided, but as we inch closer to the end of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services epidemic orders on Dec. 8, teams still alive in the postseason are hopeful to return to the playing field.

One of the programs still in postseason is the Mesick volleyball program.

The Bulldogs have recorded their best season this fall, going 23-2, with a district championship and winning the program’s first regional title.

With all the success Mesick has enjoyed this year, the Bulldogs don’t want their season to end on a question mark.

“I think that it would actually give them some closure to the season,” Mesick coach Stacy Quiggin said. “They’re not going to have the what-ifs in the back of their mind. If we don’t get to finish, if we don’t get to play, they’re always going to wonder what would’ve happened. Would we have lost, would we have won? How good was our team? So definitely really hoping that we can finish and we can play this.”

If the fall season resumes, Mesick will face Fowler in a Division 4 quarterfinal.
