LUDINGTON – Jakob Davie’s 5-yard toss to Callen Campbell as time expired in regulation lifted Sault Ste. Marie to a 22-16 win over Ludington in a Division 4 district semifinal on Friday.
The two teams were scoreless after a quarter, the Blue Devils took an 8-0 lead to the half.
“It’s just great. Especially with all the corona things going on, we didn’t think we’d be here in the first place,” Davie said. “The fact that we’re even playing out here, everybody’s grateful. And this is all we could ask for, is an opportunity.”
Here it is: the sequence of the year, and the reason Sault Ste. Marie is moving on to the district finals next week against Cadillac. Just a stunning finish for the Blue Devils, with 10 seconds left on the clock.
