The Leland volleyball program’s postseason run has come to an end following a confirmed positive COVID-19 case within the high school.
Third-ranked Leland was scheduled to face Mesick in a Division 4 regional final at Buckley on Thursday. Mesick will receive a forfeit win and will play the winner of Thursday’s Onekama-Fowler match in a state quarterfinal next Tuesday.
Leland’s superintendent says the team will quarantine until Nov. 21 because of a positive COVID-19 case.
Tough news for a volleyball team that was looking to make its third straight run to a state finals appearance.

Leland was vying for its third straight trip to the MHSAA Division 4 state finals. The Comets finished state runners-up to Mendon in 2018 and 2019.
