After a 12-year absence, Cadillac’s wrestling program is making a return for the 2020-21 school year and will have a face familiar to the program heading up the reins.

Cadillac alum Eli Hoffert will head up the program’s return after spending eight years as Lake City’s head coach.

Hoffert, who earned Michigan Wrestling Association Regional Coach of the Year honors in 2018 at Lake City, is excited for the return of the program and for the opportunity to develop young athletes.

“It’s cool to be back in these hallways, you know, seeing familiar faces and being in the same wrestling room that I practiced in, where I wrestled,” Hoffert said. “I’m pretty excited, very excited about it. It’s great that the program is starting over again. There’s a lot of athletes here in this area and I’m excited to able to prep these kids for sports for life. I want my records to be broken, that’s what I want. I want to train these kids to be better than I was.”

Hoffert was a three-year team captain for Cadillac and owns the school’s win record with 134.
