MHSAA Issues Updated Guidelines for Return to Sports

The Michigan High School Athletic Association issued updated guidelines for summer activities on Tuesday.

Effective Wednesday, June 10, schools that have reopened in Regions 6 and 8 (northwestern Lower Peninsula and Upper Peninsula) can begin indoor activities with no more than 50 people and must continue to practice social distancing and proper cleaning of equipment. Schools in Regions 6 and 8 can also increase outdoor activity participation from 100 to 250 people.

Both the school and school district must open school facilities to students and staff and the 2019-20 academic year must have been completed for activities to resume at school facilities.

Schools in Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 must continue to adhere to outdoor activity and workouts for groups of 100 or fewer with physical distancing. Indoor facilities, including gyms, swimming pools and weight rooms must remain closed. Schools in these regions should prepare for similar opportunities in Regions 6 and 8, though.

Competition is still not allowed yet as participants must continue to follow social distancing.

All MHSAA out-of-season coaching regulations continue to apply.
