Gorman Takes Over White Cloud Football Program

After not fielding a varsity football program in 2019 due to low participation numbers, White Cloud is starting over with a new head coach in 2020.

Gladwin native Joe Gorman takes over the reins of a program hungry for success.

“It is very rewarding coaching these young guys,” Gorman said. “As a sixth through eighth P.E. teacher, I’ve had a lot of these student athletes already come through my classroom, so they already know my expectations and I already know a lot of their abilities. It was just great opportunity to work with these guys more.”

White Cloud is still seeking its first winning campaign and playoff berth since 2003. The Indians have won just three games in a season twice since 2007 and have had three winless seasons since 2012.

“It’s not just about the winning, but I don’t anticipate us just getting one win,” Gorman said. “I feel like we’re probably going to have a few. That first one’s going to be nice to get the monkey off our back, but we really do envision hopefully being in the playoffs within at least the first couple seasons.”

Gorman and the Indians open their season at home against Wyoming Lee on Friday, Aug. 28.
