MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Pine River senior Marcus Jurik is set to take his talents to Kellogg Community College and its men’s basketball program in the fall.

A former Associated Press Honorable Mention All-Stater, Jurik was offered a spot on Kellogg’s roster after sending the program’s coaches his highlight film.

While Jurik hasn’t had the opportunity to visit Kellogg’s campus because of the coronavirus pandemic, he believes the school will be a great fit.

“Through social media and stuff, it looks like a smaller school. Looks community friendly,” Jurik said. “It’s going to be a step up from high school obviously, but I feel like it’s a little smaller so that’ll be nice.”

Jurik says he plans to develop his game over the next two years in hopes of receiving an opportunity from a four-year college.
