MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Grayling senior multi-sport athlete Allie Moffit had hopes of returning to the MHSAA Lower Peninsula track and field finals this spring and improving on her past state performances, until the coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 high school spring sports season.
Now Moffit is looking forward to continuing her academic and track career at Michigan Tech in the fall.
“I don’t think it’s going to be real until I get up there and I get a jersey and start my first practice,” Moffit said. “I’m trying to kind of live in the moment, enjoy it and take it step by step.”
A state qualifier in the 400m and 800m events as a junior, Moffit medaled nine times over the past three years in regional competition. She also earned all-Lake Michigan Conference honors in the 100m, 400m, and 800m and was awarded all-conference volleyball honors on three occasions.
Moffit plans on majoring in civil engineering at Michigan Tech.
