FIFE LAKE – The Forest Area boys basketball team opened Ski Valley Conference play with a 63-53 win over Gaylord St. Mary on Thursday.
The Warriors (1-0, 1-0) led 18-9 after the opening quarter and 36-18 at the half.
Cody Schelske paced Forest Area with 21 points.
Josh Powers scored 16 for the Snowbirds.
Forest Area continues league play at Pellston Tuesday, while St. Mary (1-1) hosts Mancelona.
