REED CITY – Despite a two-goal effort from freshman Ethan Maddox, the Reed City boys soccer team fell 3-2 on penalty kicks to visiting Kent City in Central State Activities Conference play on Wednesday.
Trailing 1-0 at the half on an Abel Diaz goal, Maddox found the back of the net in the opening minutes of the second half to knot the game at 1-1. Kent City’s Miguel Arechiga wound respond two minutes later, though, putting the Eagles ahead 2-1.
Maddox would pull the Coyotes even midway through the second.
After two scoreless overtime sessions, Kent City prevailed 2-0 on penalty kicks.
Reed City (2-7, 0-3) returns to the pitch next Wednesday, traveling to Newaygo.
