Cedarville Eyes State Title

CEDARVILLE – Winners of consecutive regional titles, Cedarville enters 2016 as one of 8-man football’s strongest programs.

No stranger to the postseason, the Trojans have advanced to the playoffs in 12 consecutive seasons, falling to Lawrence in the 2014 state game and to eventual state champion Powers North Central in a 2015 state semifinal.

After finishing second in the league to Posen a year ago, the Trojans also have their sights set on reclaiming a Bridge Alliance Football League title.

"Well the beauty is, we’re pretty balanced, our line is going to be really incredible,” coach Scott Barr said. “We have Jordan Bailey and Derek Berg, who are going to be our guards. Grant Plowman is our center. Those are all three seniors, really tough strong kids and determined and good leaders. Our backfield is new, however they were playing last year in key positions as well. A couple changes on the receiver end, but I think we’re going to be really balanced with senior leadership, which is always a positive."

Cedarville opens its season at Rudyard on Aug. 25 and closes out the year with Crystal Falls Forest Park on Oct. 20.
