Cheboygan Begins Year Two Under Schulz

CHEBOYGAN – Coming off consecutive losing seasons, the Cheboygan football program begins its second year under coach David Schulz.

With eight postseason appearances since 2004 to their credit, the Chiefs join the Northern Michigan Football League Legends division this fall, making it the first league Cheboygan has been a part of since it left the Straits Area Conference in 2008.

"It was up and down when it came to kind of our performance, but it was a big transition year for the coaching staff and also the players. You know, kind of learning a new system and transitioning to having a different head coach,” Schulz said. “Overall, the kids played hard, they worked as hard as they could. Didn’t end up with as many wins as we wanted, but I thought we really, you know, set the foundation for the program to move into this year and years to come.”

Cheboygan opens its season at Sault Ste. Marie on Friday.
