CLARE – In a battle atop the Jack Pine Conference standings, Division 3 second-ranked Sanford Meridian earned a doubleheader split with Clare on Thursday.
The Mustangs (17-1, 5-1 JPC) dropped a 5-2 contest in the opener before rebounding for a 6-5 victory over the ninth-ranked Pioneers (14-2, 5-1 JPC) in the nightcap.
Sanford Meridian and Clare have combined to win the last 21 Jack Pine Conference championships, dating back to the 1995 season.
