Thursday, Dec. 27 12:01 AM Partial shutdown of federal govt, amid dispute over border wall funding, continues – Partial shutdown of the federal govt continues, with the most recent continuing resolution – agreed earlier this month – expiring 21 Dec * Approx 800,000 federal employees are impacted by the shutdown, with around 380,000 furloughed and being paid later, and the rest deemed ‘essential’ (those whose jobs ‘protect life and property’), who must work without pay, though retroactive pay is expected. The shutdown sees closures to federal facilities, and probably delays passport and visa applications, affecting departments and agencies included in the seven FY’19 appropriations bills that have not yet been enacted (including the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Justice, Treasury, Homeland Security, Interior, State, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development)
