Here is the latest Michigan sports news from The Associated Press

UNDATED (AP) — Trevor Ariza is on the move in a trade for the third time this week. A person with knowledge of the deal says the 35-year-old is going to Oklahoma City from Detroit along with Dallas’ Justin Jackson in a three-team trade. The Mavericks are sending Delon Wright to the Pistons for James Johnson. Ariza was sent from Portland to Houston two days before this week’s draft. Then he was shipped to Detroit on draft night. Dallas added Johnson to provide some toughness around young stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Matthew Stafford has earned a reputation for being tough and playing through injuries. The Detroit Lions are going to need their franchise quarterback to be tough and to stay on the field if they hope to rebound from a 4-5 start and make a run at the NFC playoffs. If it’s going to happen, it probably needs to happen now. The Lions are preparing to face three struggling teams in the Panthers, Texans and Bears. First up is Carolina, which will be without star running back Christian McCaffrey and possibly quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who is dealing with a knee sprain.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Michigan and Rutgers will try to snap three-game losing streaks when they meet on Saturday night at SHI Stadium. The start is the worst for the Wolverines since 1967, when they began 1-5 and finished 4-6. Michigan and coach Jim Harbaugh were ranked No. 16 in the preseason poll. Like Michigan, Rutgers also has a 1-3 record. However, there is hope in Piscataway. The Scarlet Knights have played hard in their second stint with Greg Schiano as coach. They probably should have a 2-2 record but they blew a 10-point second-half lead in losing to Illinois last weekend.

UNDATED (AP) — Detroit’s Matthew Stafford and Carolina’s Teddy Bridgewater are both questionable for Sunday’s game between the Lions and Panthers. Aside from those two quarterbacks, several other players are also dealing with injuries for the two teams. Running back D’Andre Swift and receivers Kenny Golladay and Danny Amendola have been ruled out for Detroit. Carolina running back Christian McCaffrey is also missing this weekend’s game. Stafford, who has been dealing with a right thumb injury, was limited in practice Friday. Bridgewater was also limited with a right knee sprain, and coach Matt Rhule says he’ll be a game-time decision.

DETROIT (AP) — Dan Marowski, who worked for over a decade as an official scorer, mostly for the Detroit Tigers, has died. He was 65. Marowski’s son, Steve, said he died Thursday night. Marowski grew up in the Detroit area and got a master’s degree in English at Michigan. His family described him as an avid music fan, particularly of 1960s rock and pop. Marowski began working for STATS in 1993 and worked at Gale Research from 1980-2014. He began working as an official scorer in 2007. The Tigers said in a statement that Marowski was one of the most respected official scorers in baseball — and an even better person.
