COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Tyler Bertuzzi scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period and the Detroit Red Wings beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3. Jimmy Howard had 34 saves as the Red Wings won their second in a row after losing nine of their first 11. Nineteen-year-old Michael Rasmussen got his first NHL goal and Anthony Mantha also scored for the Red Wings, who snapped the Blue Jackets’ two-game winning streak.
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Redshirt freshman Rocky Lombardi gave Michigan State a lift at quarterback, and after a win over Purdue, the Spartans could feel a bit better about themselves. Lombardi threw for 318 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 23-13 victory after replacing the injured Brian Lewerke as the starter. Michigan State was coming off a loss to rival Michigan, but Lombardi helped the Spartans rebound.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired wide receiver Golden Tate from the Detroit Lions for a third-round draft pick next year. Tate has 44 catches for 517 yards and three touchdowns this season. He joins Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor and Jordan Matthews, giving Carson Wentz another target.
