WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Kyle Connor had a goal and two assists as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-2. Bryan Little scored the game-winning goal for his 500th career point.

DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Tigers avoided arbitration with Nicholas Castellanos, agreeing on a $9.95 million deal with the outfielder for 2019. Detroit also reached agreements with left-handers Matthew Boyd ($2.6 million), Daniel Norris ($1,275,000) and Blaine Hardy ($1.3 million). Right-hander Michael Fulmer is the Tigers’ only arbitration-eligible player without a deal. He asked for $3.4 million and was offered $2.8 million.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Gus Ganakas, who was the coach of Michigan State’s men’s basketball team from 1969-76 and remained part of the athletic department until his retirement in 2000, has died. He was 92. Ganakas became an assistant basketball coach at Michigan State in 1966. After taking over as head coach three years later, he went 89-84 in seven seasons.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Anthony Campanile is joining Michigan’s football program as a defensive assistant. Campanile spent the past three seasons as an assistant at Boston College and the previous four on the staff at Rutgers. He was a co-defensive coordinator at Boston College in 2018.
