DETROIT (AP) — Tyler Bertuzzi and Pius Suter each scored twice, including short-handed goals on the same penalty, and the Detroit Red Wings beat the San Jose Sharks 6-2. Dylan Larkin and Robby Fabbri also scored for Detroit. Alex Nedeljkovic made 24 saves for the Red Wings.  Jasper Weatherby and Alexander Barabanov scored for the Sharks. James Reimer stopped 20 of 24 shots before being replaced by Adin Hill (five saves) at the start of the third period.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Geo Baker scored 27 points on 10-for-15 shooting and Ron Harper Jr. scored 20 and Rutgers beat depleted Michigan 75-67. It was Rutgers’ first win against the Wolverines in 15-game series that began Dec. 20, 1933. Michigan played without reserves Frankie Collins, Jaron Faulds Brandon Johns Jr., and Terrance Williams II due to undisclosed medical reasons. Zeb Jackson didn’t make the trip due to personal reasons. Rutgers owned a nine-point halftime lead and started the second half outscoring the Wolverines 14-6 run in a 6:47 span for a 53-36 advantage. Hunter Dickinson scored 25 points for Michigan.

DETROIT (AP) — More than half of the NFL’s 32 teams have female fan clubs. The Detroit Lions’ Women of the Pride group is one of them. Verdell Blackmon showed up for a recent game and left no doubt who she was cheering for that afternoon. Blackmon’s hair and more were bright hues of blue, and Detroit Lions Women of the Pride was printed on her black shirt. She was one of about 50 women in the team’s Women of the Pride group who attended a pregame party at Ford Field and witnessed Detroit’s first win of the season against Minnesota.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan outside linebacker David Ojabo is entering the NFL draft. Ojabo announced his decision Tuesday to turn pro and skip his senior season with the Wolverines. The second-team All-American and All-Big Ten player had 11 sacks as a redshirt sophomore. He helped Michigan win its first Big Ten title since 2004 and advance to the College Football Playoff for the first time. Ojabo was born in Nigeria in 2000 and moved to Scotland seven years later. He attended three years of high school at Blair Academy in New Jersey, where he started playing football as a junior.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Freshman Alexis Markowski scored a season-high 20 points in her first start, and Nebraska built a big lead early and went on to a 79-58 victory over eighth-ranked Michigan. The Cornhuskers (13-1, 2-1 Big Ten) beat a top-10 opponent for the first time in seven years. Michigan stars Naz Hillmon and Leigha Brown had trouble getting going. The two combined for nine points on 3-of-14 shooting in the decisive first half. Emily Kiser led the Wolverines (12-2, 3-1) with 13 points. Hillmon and Brown finished with 10 points apiece.

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State receiver and kick returner Jayden Reed is returning to school for 2022. Reed made the announcement in a post on Instagram. “I’ve come to a final decision to return to Michigan State and use my last year of eligibility. We have unfinished business to take care of,” Reed wrote. The Spartans finished 11-2 and were ranked No. 11 in the final AP poll after a 31-21 victory over No. 13 Pittsburgh in the Peach Bowl. Reed finished the season with 59 catches for 1,026 yards and 10 TDs and returned 12 punts for 238 yards and two TDs.
