Boss revenge, self-colonoscopy studies win 2018 Ig Nobels

BOSTON (AP) — Researchers who figured out that voodoo might stop people from retaliating against an abusive boss and a doctor who showed how easy it is to give yourself a colonoscopy are among the winners of this year’s Ig Nobel prizes.

The prizes for strange and scientific discovery were handed out Thursday by real Nobel laureates during a madcap ceremony at Harvard University.

The event featured a traditional paper airplane air raid and the world premiere of a mini-opera about the heart performed by Harvard Medical School cardiologists.

The winners also received a cash prize of 10 trillion virtually worthless Zimbabwean dollars.

Other winners included a British archaeology lecturer who figured out that eating human flesh isn’t very nutritious and an Australian team that found people can’t be bothered with high-tech instruction manuals.
