TRAVERSE CITY – The Traverse City Beach Bums hosted their first official practice of the 2018 season and the team’s annual media day Monday morning.
After going 37-59 a year ago and finishing last in the East Division, the Beach Bums are focusing on staying healthy this summer in their quest to win their first Frontier League championship since 2015.
“Trying to stay away from injuries, that’s the biggest thing,” manager Don Rohn said. “We got hurt with Will (Kengor) getting hurt last year, and Lexi (Alexis Rivera) getting hurt and Kendall Patrick, so hopefully we can stay healthy and win some ball games. Bottom line is you’re a grown man playing a kid’s game, it can’t be more fun than that.”
The Beach Bums open their regular season on the road against the Normal CornBelters on Friday, May 11.
