Issues:

The Economy: “We need to encourage entrepreneurship and ensure small businesses can compete in the global economy. This requires ending corporate welfare, and encouraging and providing the tax incentives and credits that typically goes to larger corporations to these community-based businesses.” Ferguson lists fighting for a livable wage, encouraging entrepreneurship and providing tax incentives and credits to small businesses, growing unions, and supporting local farmers as priorities for creating a strong, sustainable, stable economy.

Health Care: “The health care crisis we face today is a threat to small businesses, our economy, family security and to the stability of our society. Families and individuals being financially ruined or having to file for bankruptcy because of unforeseen and unwanted medical emergencies should not happen here in the US.” Ferguson says he supports a single-payer health care system. Ferguson’s health care goals include lowering the price of prescription drugs, removing the stigma behind mental health and provide schools, rural communities and veteran organizations with proper funding and trained mental health professionals.

The Environment: “Combating climate change is the number one issue that we face today.  It determines our path into the future. We have rising energy costs, the spread of invasive species, more severe and frequent natural disasters, increased health costs, droughts, fires, high water levels, and the list goes on, all from climate change.” Ferguson supports investing in green energy and green jobs. Ferguson supports the Green New Deal and says clean green energy is the path to becoming energy independent.

Education: “Public education is the backbone to this country. We must ensure that our public schools are properly funded, that the educators and school staff who are responsible for guiding the youth and shaping the future have the tools they need to do their jobs, that the youth know they are important to us and the future, and that we do not give up on what made this country what it is.” Ferguson wants to provide more opportunities and funding for youth and transition workers through CTE programs, and encourage and support union workers.
