Austin Lowe joined the Doppler 9&10 Weather Team in July 2020. He graduated from Central Michigan University earning his Bachelor of Science in meteorology and plans to pursue a Master’s degree from Mississippi State University to further his education and passion for weather.
He was born in Garden City and raised in Howell, where he discovered his passion for weather. He has been passionate about weather since the early childhood years, where he was fascinated by lightning and “creepy” clouds.
“I always chose to watch the Weather Channel instead of cartoons, now I watch cartoons and do weather.”
His career began in Peoria, Illinois, where he served as the weekend weather anchor for WEEK-TV and HOI ABC while finishing his degree at Central Michigan.
After Central Illinois, he returned home to southeast Michigan to take on a weather producer role at WDIV in Detroit.
He is most excited about the fall months for the color and winter months for the snow. He will be seen all across northern Michigan taking landscape photos, hitting the slopes at Crystal Mountain, and eventually learning how to navigate the green in the spring.
He is open to suggestions on things to do and places to check out in Northern Michigan.
