UPDATE 9/28/23 5:40 p.m.
EVART — Foster’s Market in Evart will soon be under new ownership.
Ebels announced that they will now be taking ownership of Foster’s Market Saturday.
Ebels owns two other stores, originating in Falmouth and then expanded to Reed City.
Ebels said the market will pretty much be the same, with the same people and service, just with different owners. They said the previous owners, the Fosters, wanted to take time to spend with family and though Ebels would be a good fit to take the reigns since they’ve been a family owned business since 1920.
“We’re very excited because it’s an opportunity and the Fosters have a legacy business they’ve worked in and loved that community for over 50 years, I believe, and now they’ve handed it off to us. So we have responsibility, but we also have joy of being able to carry on what they’ve started,” Mark Ebels, co-owner of Ebels General Store, said.
The Evart store will be closing at 2 p.m. Saturday in preparation for the transition in ownership and to make inventory adjustments.
