Tight Lines for Troops was started back in 2010 by Bob Guenthardt and has grown ever since. They’ve now taken over 3,000 veterans on fishing trips throughout the Great Lakes.

“It’s really amazing to think about. That’s a lot of people out there. It’s just been fun to see it get bigger and bigger every year,” Guenthardt admits.

They’ve lost the past two years due to COVID and are trying to get back on track. They’ve opened not only opened applications for volunteers, but they’re also hoping to get more veterans signed up.

Along with getting more volunteers and veterans signed up they’ve also started a GoFundMe in order to bring more veterans on this year’s fishing trip.

“We decided to start a GoFundMe this year as well to help with some of those costs,” Board Member, Jakob Veith says. “Some of our veterans need help getting here and we can help with their transportation, with their lodging. So, anything that is donated through the GoFundMe is going right back to our veterans.”
