Troopers say that around 8 p.m. on Jan. 18, they were dispatched to a home on Omaha Court in Otsego Lake Township for a report of a felonious assault. The victim said the 20-year-old, identified as Elizabeth Marie Hooper, assaulted him and then attacked him with a kitchen knife.

The alleged attack happened after the homeowner confronted Hooper and some of her friends about smoking marijuana inside the home. He also accused them of stealing a heater.

State Police say Hooper became angry and began yelling at the person. Another person stood between them, and according to witnesses, Hooper struck him several times. Investigators believe Hooper grabbed a kitchen knife and began swinging it at him and telling him to shoot her, as he had a firearm on his side. He was able to disarm her during the attack, and Hooper and her friends decided to leave. State Police say as they were leaving, Hooper picked up a dining room chair and began swinging it at the residents before smashing the chair on the floor.

Hooper and her friends left the residence before troopers arrived, but they located them at a residence on Krys Road. Interviews were conducted and Hooper was placed under arrest.

Hooper is accused of spitting toward troopers, who say she had to be physically restrained when she tried to hit her head against the passenger side door frame during transport to the jail.

Hooper was arraigned Thursday in the 87-A District Court in Otsego County on one count Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and one count Assault and Battery. Her bond was set at $10,000 cash surety.
