United Way of Northwest Michigan helped teach kids across the region about Martin Luther King Jr. by supplying totes filled with books and STEM kits.

There were 48 libraries throughout Northern Michigan that received these totes. Some of the libraries held public readings of the books in the totes as well as movie screenings and activities honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

United Way says “a lot of the littler libraries, they don’t have a whole lot of support. MLK was really about equality and he was about service to others. And so it’s really great that we can give back and give kids something, give them the tools that they need to succeed.”

United Way of Northwest Michigan and the Literacy Hub region 2 worked together to supply 1,500 books and STEM kits to the kids.
