Cheboygan Man Arrested on Several Charges After Crashing Car into Tree

Phillip Lee Daniels Jr., 37, was arrested Saturday night for driving while intoxicated and other charges, after a MSP trooper responded to a car that had crashed into a large tree.

The crash was in Inverness Township in Cheboygan County, on Wing Road near VFW Road. The car appeared to be going north on Wing Road when it crossed the centerline, ran off on the left side of the road, then hit a tree.

Daniels was the driver of the car, and was also in possession of an unknown powdery substance, an orange square patch that was suspected to be suboxone and other drugs related items.

Daniels was given sobriety tests and placed under arrest.

He was arraigned Monday for one count possession methamphetamine, one count possession analogues, one count reckless driving and one count driving while intoxicated.

He was given a $25,000 cash surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court again on Jan. 27.
