Firefighter Injured at House Fire in Chippewa County

Dafter Fire

Several fire departments battled a house fire in Chippewa County Sunday.

The fire started just before 10:30 Sunday morning on 10 Mile road in Dafter, which is 10 miles south of Sault Ste. Marie.

Fire officials at the scene said a metal roof, along with the construction of the house, made it difficult to put out the fire.

One firefighter was injured on scene but is expected to be ok.

There were people inside the home when the fire started, and they all made it out safely.

It’s still unclear how the fire started.

Mutual aid was called from Superior Township Fire Department, Baymills Township Fire, Soo Township Fire Department and Kinross EMS.
