Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office Spreads Holiday Cheer to Nursing Homes
The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office is doing their part this year by spreading holiday cheer to those in assisted care homes in the area.
Officers are handing out holiday cards and blankets to residents in nursing homes in Roscommon.
Some of the cards are handmade from local students. The letters come with personalized messages that are meant to bring joy to those who aren’t able to celebrate this holiday season with family.
“We started this program to support a population that maybe doesn’t see their families all the time. And we figured if we could fill that void for the holidays, then that’s what we need to do,” said Roscommon County Sheriff Deputy, Emilie Pelleran. “We’ve had people cry. We’ve had hugs. We’ve had handshakes. We had an individual say this was the only Christmas present they would be receiving.”
The Sheriff’s Office was able to give out nearly 500 holiday cards this year.
