One Man Pleads Guilty to Lake County Bank Robbery

Lake County Sheriff’s Office says that Paul Phipps pleaded guilty on Nov. 8 for his part in the robbery of the Luther Branch of Lake Osceola State Bank.
They say sentencing will happen at a later date, and if you have any information on this robbery you are asked to contact D/Lt. Nixon or Detective Hedlund at 231-745-2712.
Oct. 4 4:51 p.m.
Two men have been arraigned on two counts of felony charges after robbing the Lake-Osceola State Bank in Luther.
James Phipps, a 54-year-old from Fraiser, and Timothy Fullerton, a 34-year-old from Luther, have both been charged on one count of bank robbery and one count of false report or threat of terrorism, both of which are felonies. Their bond is set at $75,000.
Phipps and Fullerton robbed the bank on Sept. 22, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. They handed the bank teller a note demanding money and referenced a bomb at a school. Although the men did not specify a specific school, law enforcement still took the necessary precautions and evacuated Baldwin Community Schools.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested Phipps and Fullerton on Sept. 28 on unrelated charges.
